PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER

 

Reason for Announcement:  Fill immediate vacancies and establish an eligibility list. 

 

Responsibilities:  Justly enforce the laws and ordinances of the State of Wisconsin and the Town of Grand Chute, conduct criminal investigations, investigate accidents, identify and solve community problems, and provide preventive police patrol.

 

Salary & Benefits:  $16.46 per hour (2009 rate), Wisconsin Retirement System, clothing allowance.  Successful candidates will be given consideration for appointment to fulltime positions in the Grand Chute Police Department as they become available. 

 

Qualifications:  Minimum requirements are:  must be a U.S. Citizen; must be at least 18 years of age; must possess a valid driver’s license; must possess a minimum of 60 credits from an approved university, college, or technical school; must have no felony or domestic violence convictions and be able to possess a firearm; must be eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification by time of appointment.  Candidates must be able to work an average of 20 hours per week in a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

 

The successful candidate should have a service orientation and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the quality of life in his or her community.  Furthermore, he or she will possess good verbal and written communication skills, strong problem solving skills, sound judgment, the ability to react quickly and effectively in stressful situations, the ability to perform all essential functions of the position, and the ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment.
