Grand Chute PD Citizens Academy
The Grand Chute Citizen Police Academy is an opportunity for citizens of the town and surrounding areas to become more familiar with the day to day activities of the police department. The curriculum is designed to be very interactive. Many of the weekly classes involve hands-on type learning experiences. For example, participants are shown how to dust for latent fingerprints and given the opportunity to actually do it. Participants also engage in defensive tactics skills to include such things as handcuffing techniques, firearms training and conducting mach traffic stops. Classes are held each Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning April 2, 2008. Participation in the academy is on a first come first served basis. Preference is given to town residents first, followed by people who work in Grand Chute but live elsewhere. Other people who have no connection to the town but are interested and their home community does not offer a citizen academy may also apply as long as there are openings in the class. Class size is limited to fifteen people. To qualify, a person must be at least 18 years of age and have no felony, serious misdemeanor or domestic violence convictions. The program coordinator will verify all information submitted on the application and participants will be notified by mail as to their status. For applications or more information, contact Lt. Jerome Martin at (920) 380-2938 or by email at jerome.martin@grandchutepd.org. |
