CHANGES GO INTO EFFECT FOR WISCONSIN AUTO INSURANCE JUNE 1, 2010

Beginning June 1, 2010:
Liability coverage will be mandatory and drivers will need to carry proof of this insurance with them to show police if asked. Insurers typically provide written proof of insurance for this purpose.

PROPOSAL FOR POLICE K9 UNIT

On August 18, 2009, the Grand Chute Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (GCCPAAA) approached the Grand Chute Town Board for permission to fund a Police Service Dog (K9) Program. The Town Board approved the request to proceed further. It is proposed that Grand Chute Police will seek a patrol/narcotic police dog. The police dog would be cross-trained in the ability to search humans, articles and drugs. 

Fundraising will be achieved in several ways, but not limited to: Brat Fry, chili dinner, and donation banks. We also will be looking for donations from grants, corporate sponsors and personal donations.

To cover three (3) years' expenses, a startup goal of $30,000 has been set. Dual-purpose patrol dog: includes K9 training [drug detection (marijuana, cocaine, heroin, crack/rock cocaine), search & tracking, evidence recovery, public relations activities] and handler training......................$11,000

veterinary exam, food).............$3,000

The police canine's extraordinary ability in smell, agility, courage and determination are recognized both nationally and internationally.

The K9 unit can provide:

  • Tracking to find lost children and people with medical problems
  • Public relations between the police and community. Appearances and demonstrations.
  • Highly visible deterrent to criminal activity.
  • Tracking and apprehending criminals for prosecution of their crimes.
  • Locating drugs
  • Reducing the hours needed to locate people and drugs.
  • Providing income from recovered cash and property.
