Nov. 13, 2018 - Winter Maintenance Policies

Parking
No parking on any street or road in the Town of Grand Chute for a period of time longer than 30 minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 1 of each year to April 1 of the following year.

No parking on any street, alley or public parking lot during the period of a snow emergency, or immediately thereafter, until such street, alley or public parking lot has been cleared of snow.

The use of parking lots within Town parks is prohibited between 11:00 p.m. and sunrise without authorization from the Director of Public Works or his/her designee.

Mailboxes
If mailboxes are properly installed, they should not conflict with normal plowing operations. Make sure your mailbox does not extend past the face of a vertical curb or the back of a mountable curb or beyond the outside edge of an aggregate shoulder or be closer than 18 inches from the edge of pavement in a rural section, whichever is greater.  Please be aware if damage to your mailbox occurs because of the weight or impact of the snow being pushed by Town snowplows, then the Town is not responsible to repair said mailbox.

Snow Removal
Keep your sidewalks clear of all snow and ice to their maximum width. Sidewalks must be cleared of all accumulated snow and/or ice within twenty-four (24) hours from the time the snow ceases to accumulate on the sidewalk. In the event that ice has formed on any sidewalk and cannot be removed, sprinkle with sand and/or salt to permit safe travel by pedestrians.

No person shall push, blow, shove or in any way deposit any snow or ice onto any public street, public right-of-way, alley, sidewalk or public land dedicated to public use.

Keep fire hydrants clear of snow three feet in all directions.

When removing snow be aware of vehicle traffic. Do not stand in the street and be careful not to slip and fall out into the roadway.

Refuse and Recycle Carts
Carts cannot be placed on snow piles. They must be placed at ground level. If it will not fit in the driveway opening, then you will have to shovel an opening in the snow bank where the cart can be properly placed.
