To reduce public health risks such as
accidental needle sticks, Wisconsin law requires all citizens to
manage needles, lancets, and syringes safely. It is illegal
to put sharps in the trash or with recyclables.
Used and unused sharps must be placed
in an acceptable sharps container and taken to a registered
collection facility. NEVER put sharps in the trash or with
recyclables!

The Grand Chute Police Department was well represented at the
annual Best Badge Award banquet hosted by District Attorney Carrie
Schneider. on April 19.
The first award was an individual Investigative Award that was
presented to Scott Callaway. Scott worked a
complex burglary and theft investigation that was repeatedly
impeded by false leads provided by the suspect, but eventually led
to convictions on numerous crimes in multiple counties. The effort
and determination Scott showed during this investigation was
remarkable, and he willingly endured significant personal
sacrifices to ensure a successful outcome.
The second award was an Outstanding Teamwork Award presented to
a group of our employees for their roles in the Hollywood Cinema
robbery on Easter Sunday, 2011. We shared this award with officers
from the Appleton PD, Town of Menasha PD, Outagamie County
Sheriff's Department, and the Winnebago County Sheriff's
Department. Recognized for their performance in this investigation
were: Aaron Schellinger, Amanda Dempsey, Austin Weisnicht,
Benjamin Kons, Brad Kuehl, Cindy Trombly, Derek Reiter, Ian
Gollner, Jim Bargenquast, Josh Bohlen, Katie Keuler, Mike Renkas,
Mike Velie, Scott Callaway, Scott Steinke, Shawn Enneper and Todd
Zolkowski. Accepting the award on behalf of the group were
Aaron Schellinger, Katie Keuler, Mike Renkas, Scott Callaway, and
Brad Kuehl.
Please congratulate all of the award recipients, both on the
outstanding effort and the well deserved recognition. Thank you for
the professional manner in which you've represented the GCPD!!

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) northeast
region office in Green Bay is announcing work beginning Monday,
April 23 to repaint the steel members on the Capitol Drive Bridge
crossing US 41 in the town of Grand Chute, Outagamie county.
The bridge will be closed to traffic. The project is
scheduled for completion by Friday, May 25.
Because this work involves lane and ramp closures on US 41, most
of the work will be done during the evening. Crews will
attempt to restrict use of equipment generating higher levels of
noise to earlier evening hours. Efforts will also be made to
coordinate closures with local Timber Rattler games.
Ramp and lane closures will be announced as the project
progresses. Motorists on US 41 are advised to use caution and
remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.

Casaloma Drive between College Avenue (CTH CA) and Wisconsin
Avenue (STH 96) will have the northbound and southbound outside
lanes closed for the next two weeks for the purpose of deteriorated
concrete panels.
Once the outside lanes are completed, the same lane closure will
occur on the inside lanes for approximately two additional weeks
allowing traffic to run on the newly repaired outside lanes.
Expect traffic delays and backups during peak traffic hours.
Expected completion is approximately May 18, 2012. This project
includes some night work in order to complete it in a timely
