|Aug. 25, 2022 - FUNDRAISING SCAM ALERT
Grand Chute Fire Department is Not Soliciting Funds
The Grand Chute Fire Department is not soliciting funds from the public for any reason. The Department does not fundraise at any time. A citizen recently called to report that this weekend they received a phone call from someone asking for a donation for Family Safety Day and asked for credit card information. The Fire Department will never call asking for a donation or request any form of payment information. This is a scam.
Here are some tips to keep you safe from phone scams:
CONTACT: Fire Chief Len Vander Wyst (920) 832-6050
- Always think twice before picking up any call or responding to any text from an unidentified number or unknown area code. Let unknown calls go to voicemail. Confirm call-back numbers on a company website.
- Do not confirm or share any sensitive information over the phone. Even something as simple as confirming your name may make you vulnerable.
- Do not respond to any sense of urgency request, especially via an unsolicited phone call. If you are unsure, hang up and call the main public line of any service requesting information.
