May 22, 2021 - FATAL HOUSE FIRE
Cause is Under Investigation
On Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 8:39 am, Grand Chute Fire Department, Appleton Fire Department, and Fox Crossing Fire Department were dispatched to 2323 E. Wisconsin Ave. for the report of smoke in the house. Appleton Fire Department arrived on location with Grand Chute Fire Department arriving shortly after. Upon entry, crews reported smoke in the building with no flames present. The fire had mostly burned itself out prior to the fire department's arrival.
A deceased person and dog were found in the house. The victim's name is not available pending family notifications. No firefighter injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by Grand Chute Fire Department, Grand Chute Police Department, and Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, which is standard practice after a fatality, and no cause has been identified at the time of this release.
The Grand Chute Fire Department reminds all residents to check their smoke alarms monthly to ensure notification of a fire in the home.
