|Mar. 6, 2021 - FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO DUPLEX FIRE
One Occupant Removed; No Injuries Reported
On Saturday March 6th at 4:12 AM the Grand Chute Fire Department was dispatched to a duplex located at 1110 South Nicolet for a report of a structure fire. Outagamie County 911 Dispatchers provided additional information stating that a nearby resident noticed that smoke and flames were visible coming from the roof of the involved structure. City of Appleton, Town of Greenville, and Village of Fox Crossing Fire Units also responded in accordance with automatic aid agreements in place.
First arriving GCFD Units found fire coming from the roof of the duplex. Fire crews worked to gain entry to both sides of the duplex to initiate fire attack and conduct searches. An occupant was located in one of the duplex units and was escorted out by GCFD fire crews. The other side of the duplex was vacant. The fire was confined to the rear of the structure but did impact both units of the duplex, as well as causing extensive damage to the roof. Fire personnel remained on scene for several hours conducting ventilation and overhaul operations.
No civilian or responder injuries were reported, however the occupant of the duplex was displaced. The fire is under investigation but is not considered to be suspicious, and preliminary damage estimates were not available at the time of this release. Outagamie County CERT team provided rehab support for all crews on scene
